Gold Leaf is the eleventh track in the album Transistor: Original Soundtrack. Its hummed release is the tenth track in the album Transistor: Original Soundtrack (Extended). A Processed version of the song called G_ld L__f is the twenty-fourth track in the same album.

The song plays as Red makes her way through the Empty Set. Its Processed counterpart plays upon her return to Goldwalk.

Description[]

Gold Leaf is a slow-paced jazz song featuring a relaxed guitar, a combination of cymbals and static samples as percussion, as well as several bird-like calls throughout. Red's humming deviates from the guitar's melody quite a bit, but keeps the relaxed pace. The Processed version of the song is heavily distorted, sounding as if it's been compressed extremely and poorly. Most of the bird-like sounds are absent in this version of the song.

The song's time signature is 4/4, its key is F#minor and its tempo is 80 BPM.

Trivia[]

  • Internally, the song is referred to as SoftJazzy, while the Processed version of it is referred to as SoftJazzyVirus.
  • The title of the song refers to a type of metal leaf made of gold, which is paper-thin, foil-like and typically used for art. Several decals throughout Transistor use a gold texture that's similar to how gold leaf is applied.
