Highrise is a district in Cloudbank. It is the home of Red and the site of many important events in Transistor.
Overview[]
Accessed from neighboring Goldwalk by gondola, Highrise is an old, popular central Cloudbank district. It is the home of the Highrise Hammers. The district is far from the water. Other notable features include Traverson Hall, the Annex Building, and the OVC Relay.
Bracket Towers, northwest of Jallaford Square, houses Cloudbank Central Administration, which tallies all votes cast by residents. The tower is old and has "changed a thousand times." Storage archives in the towers contain files on everyone in town.
A group called the Highrise Community Forum is involved in civic planning.
History[]
A planned metro from Highrise to Goldwalk was outvoted in favor of the Goldwalk Channel, drawing ire from those who wanted the bridge.
The Highrise Hammers recently lost their troubled star quarterfielder, Olmarq, reportedly to retirement.
Geography[]
The following areas can be explored in Highrise. After leaving each area, Red does not return.
- Main Gondola, the gondola from the Canals District to Highrise; its overlook has inspired 336 dreams, but the bay is no longer visible from there
- Terrace Plaza, where the canals are no longer visible; site of Terrace Apartments, Apartment 3, where Red lives, and the Patio View on her rooftop
- A Rooftop Gondola to Jallaford Square, location of rooftop bathing pools, the OVC Relay, an Alcove, Highrise Median, and a Construction Site approved 20 days earlier
- Bracket Towers Plaza, heading toward the tower's Gondola, location of the Administration Center, Maintenance Access, the Gazebo, and the Greenhouse
- Bracket Towers Courtyard, by the Foundation; a Viewport; numerous stairs; Bracket Towers B1; Bracket Towers Gondola
- Bracket Towers Concourse, location of Welcome Services;

There are two Backdoors in Highrise:
- In the Alcove off Jallaford Square
- On the left side of Bracket Towers Concourse near the Maintenance Wing
Trivia[]
- Unknown called Red's apartment the best view in town and visited her there often. He hadn't cared for Highrise due to its distance from the water until learning that she lived there.
- Jallaford Square is named after Officer Henter Jallaford.
- Traverson Hall, an ever-changing historic Highrise landmark, is the educational facility where Red studied. It is known for grooming ambitious city planners. A chryon headline available on a Goldwalk terminal between DeBesis Pier and the Waterfront, dated 06-27-67 at 02:48, reads "Traverson Hall Graduating Class Selections Revealed." Another chryon headline on a terminal in Terrace Plaza, dated 06-28-67 at 01:33, reads "Poll: Traverson Hall Disappearance Another 'Shasberg Stunt'."
