Limiters are equippable difficulty modifiers that increase the strength of the Process. In exchange for the increased difficulty, the User receives more experience points while Limiters are in effect. This bonus increases the more Limiters are active, the maximum bonus being 32%. Limiters are unlocked via leveling up the User, starting at level 4.
Each Limiter is related to a different Process, and Limiter Files containing information on the Process can be decrypted by using Limiters in battle.

Trivia[]
- When the first Limiter is activated, Unknown remarks, "Something's happened. In here." This suggests that rather than being simply a game mechanic, Limiters are a way for the Transistor to directly reconfigure the Process.
- In the Limiter File for Man, Limiters are stated to be a safeguard put in place by Royce Bracket as a way to keep the Process under control. When a Limiter is activated, these safeguards are in fact being disabled.
- When all 10 Limiters are equipped, the symbol of Cloudbank to the right of the screen glows red.
